Having played a central role in TAG Heuer’s history, the TAG Heuer Carrera watches were the creation of then-CEO Jack Heuer. Jack Heuer, who was enthralled with auto racing, heard the story of the legendary Carrera Panamericana race.
The word “Carrera” caught his attention and he knew immediately that it would be a perfect name for a new timepiece.
Carrera, meaning road, race and career in Spanish, inspired the creation of a new family of watches with race-inspired details and legible dials. This piece rose to become a horological icon, becoming the instrument of choice for driving legends such as Jo Siffert and the entire Scuderia Ferrari.

The aesthetics of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph celebrates a revival of its roots with a timeless design that retains the core Carrera design language. A pillar of the brand’s collections since its creation in 1963, the original TAG Heuer Carrera was a high-precision “race car dashboard for the wrist” designed to meet the unique technical demands and elegant style of the world’s top drivers.

This watch is available in deep blue with a matching ceramic bezel, muted olive green with a silver steel bezel or two black versions with a sleek black ceramic bezel. With the colours offering a contemporary touch, the dials feature a brushed patterning, as opposed to the usual starburst finish of the watchmaker.

The black and rose gold TAG Heuer Carrera is a true standout piece, with the black ceramic bezel filled with rose-gold colour lacquer – a first for the Swiss watchmaker. The crown and pushers are created from solid 18K rose gold and the timepiece is completed with a black leather strap, exuding style on the wrist. The sapphire crystal case back showcases an oscillating weight that is fashioned from black PVD coated brass with a rose gold printing.

The 44mm stainless steel case features shorter lugs for enhanced wearing comfort, alternating polished and fine-brushed finishing. The focus on comfort is further emphasised with the new H-shaped link bracelet, designed to be thinner and lighter for ergonomic wearability. The improved integration of the glass and the slight bezel enhance its aesthetics.

Encased within the case of the watch, is the in-house manufacture-made Calibre Heuer 02 movement. Visible via a transparent sapphire case back, the 168-part automatic movement is equipped with a column wheel chronograph and vertical clutch, presenting a haute horogerie movement that typically demands a higher end price. Boasting 80 hours of power reserve, the Heuer 02 features three registers (30-minute chronograph, running seconds, and chronograph hours).
