Beauty and Rarity

Pink diamonds are truly a miracle of nature. Only a tiny percentage of diamonds mined are pink in colour, making Pink Diamonds coveted for their beauty and rarity. Found in a stunning range of hues and intensities, from intense purplish pink to blush pink champagne, these diamonds are unmatched by any other diamond in the world.

Pink Kimberley ensures that each pink diamond is entrusted to master craftsmen who reveal the gem’s fullest and most breathtaking potential in their designs.

Grading

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) issued the world’s first official diamond grading report in 1955.

Through a meticulous analysis process,  a GIA report confirmed, for the first time, the specific qualities and measurements of a diamond.

This changed the industry and continues to be a central element in identifying diamonds and calculating their value.

For the grading of a Pink Diamond, the GIA considers four attributes:

  • HUE– the tint of colour that is present in the stone
  • TONE -the lightness or darkness of the colour
  • SATURATION – the strength of purity of the colour
  • COLOUR – the colour and the intensity

The Argyle Pink Diamond Grading System was created to have an internationally recognised pink colour system in place to consistently grade pink diamonds.

Hue

The hue of a diamond plays a large role in the determining of its value. Each pink diamond is graded according to the hue of that individual diamond.

In order of rarity, the hues of a pink diamond are:

  • Red/Purplish Red
  • Blue Violet
  • Purplish Pink
  • Pink
  • Pink Rose
  • Pink Champagne

Each diamond is giving a grading for its colour intensity.

  • 1 = Very intense
  • 2= Intense
  • 3= Strong
  • 4= Medium
  • 5= Medium Light
  • 6= Light
  • 7= Very Light
  • 8= Blush
  • 9= Light Blush

The Pink Kimberley range is available at our Bondi Junction, Campbelltown (Blush Pink range), Chatswood and Miranda Boutiques and online.
